David Cieri scores The Passion of Joan of Arc at Brookfield Place
Jan. 27. 7:30PM. FREE. (plus, free popcorn)
Friday, Jan. 27 is the finale of our Silent Film/Live Music series with The Passion of Joan of Arc, widely considered to be among the best silent films and in fact among the best films, period, ever made. It has inspired numerous composers over the past 95 years, including David Cieri, who’s best know for his music for various Ken Burns films. Joan of Arc is said to have heard voices – strange, unearthly voices. So Cieri’s score includes a vocal quartet performing in the strange and beautiful style of the island of Sardinia. Friday, Jan. 27, experience David Cieri’s new soundtrack to the 1928 film The Passion of Joan of Arc, his ensemble, and the film itself in the Winter Garden atrium at Brookfield Place. It’s free, and so is the popcorn, while supplies last.
