Craig Finn's Faith in the Future of Rock'n'Roll

The Hold Steady has always made loud, sweeping rock and roll. Lead singer Craig Finn has usually paired that sound with lyric themes about God, ambition, regret, and a night on the town. But by peeling away the window-rattling guitars, Finn has found a way to address life's smaller, more intimate--yet no less significant--moments, structured as fully-formed vignettes, or the blue-tinged stories of Raymond Carver. The idea is the basis for Finn's latest album Faith in the Future (out now) and he returns to the Soundcheck studio to play live.
