Contemporaneous Plays Yasmin Williams, Yaz Lancaster, Alex Weiser at Pier 64
Wed., July 21. 7PM EDT. Free with RSVP.

Guitarist Yasmin Williams usually plays with the guitar lying on her lap so she can tap on the strings with both hands. There are times when she sounds like two or more guitarists playing at once. But aside from the innovative technique, there’s also a lyricism to her work, and when the chamber orchestra called Contemporaneous heard her music, they wanted in. So they’ve arranged some of her pieces for guitar, kora, and ensemble, and they’ll premiere them on Wed., July 21 at Pier 64 on the Hudson River.
