CocoRosie – "Cut Stitch Scar" (Soundcheck Podcast)

CocoRosie has, for just over 20 years, been making idiosyncratic, off-kilter pop that draws from hip hop, freak folk, and electronic music. Founded by sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady, the band has just released their eighth studio album, their first in five years, called Little Death Wishes. It’s full of songs that have a creative tension between the subject matter – dark musings about family dysfunction, loneliness, death – and the band’s almost whimsical sound, built on the sisters’ voices, electronics, and found sounds – usually from toys. CocoRosie, with their song “Cut Stitch Scar.”  Their live set in our studio is today’s edition of the Soundcheck Podcast.
