A Civics Video Game Shows What it Takes to Play 'President'

WNYC News | Nov 15, 2016

Kids across America have been playing "President" — and they're learning it's really, really hard.

"Win the White House" is a free, online video game from iCivics, a civics educational group founded by former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. It's designed to allow kids to run their own presidential campaign, from fundraising to stumping to Election Night. It was played 2.2 million times in the month of October alone.

WNYC's Shumita Basu explains what students learned by playing the game and what's next from iCivics: "Executive Command," which lets you simulate your presidency.
