From the beginning, when she released her first album in 2009, Christina Courtin made a musical home for herself in the up-for-grabs territory between pop and classical. A trained violinist as well as a singer and songwriter, Courtin has a knack for writing what appear to be simple, almost folksy songs that evolve into larger, almost orchestral form. She often performs with The Knights, a New York-based chamber orchestra that includes many of her old Juilliard classmates. She and the Knights play together on Monday evening, Jan. 27, at Joe’s Pub.
