Bokanté means “exchange” in Guadalupean creole – the language of singer Malika Tirolien. The group was founded by Michael League of the Grammy-winning band Snarky Puppy as a kind of exchange of musical cultures, and they are taking part in the 6-day World Music Festival being put on, remotely of course, by the New York club Drom. Snarky Puppy are part of the first day on Friday, March 26, and Bokanté takes the virtual stage on Saturday, March 27, for afternoon and evening streams from the club’s world music festival.
