Bill Orcutt’s music draws on old blues, fingerstyle folk guitar, noise rock, and the contemporary classical style known as Minimalism. And whether he’s playing his beat up acoustic guitar or his even more beat up electric, he only uses four strings – so the instrument’s lowest string has nothing around it. His Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet features three virtuoso players - Wendy Eisenberg, Ava Mendoza & Shane Parrish - with all six strings available to them, and the music is built on repeating riffs that pass from one player to another in ways that are both edgy and hypnotic.
