Every summer around the country, medical students graduate and begin their residencies. This summer, Dr. Avir Mitra was one of them. At the end of June, he moved from Philadelphia to New York to start his career as an emergency medicine doctor at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. And he was nervous about the first day.

WNYC's Paige Cowett followed Mitra as he met his new colleagues, got his standard issue white coat and recovered from that first shift as a real deal ER doctor.
