Baroque Beatles Book - Part 1 of 3

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

"The big craze for Baroque music among young people today is just plain crazy! And it's sort of wonderful too."

Ed Canby investigates the enduring appeal of the "Baroque, Bach beat" in popular music for young people in the 1960s. He also reviews "The Baroque Beatles Book," a surprise, crossover hit released on Electra Records in 1965. The music was composed and conducted by Joshua Rifkin (with assistance from Ed Canby) and covers a number of Beatles instrumentals in the Baroque style.
