The Bang On A Can All-Stars are a contemporary electro-acoustic ensemble who can play pretty much anything – a fact they prove every year when they come to Merkin Hall with a pile of new pieces to premiere. Wednesday night's premieres include a work by the jazz legend Henry Threadgill, along with new pieces from Canadian composer and video artist Nicole Lizée, Mexican-born composer and guitarist Josué Collado Fregoso, and New Jersey-based Barbadian-American Trevor Weston. 

But they’ll also play some music from previous years: a piece written for them by Arnold Dreyblatt and featuring his unique approach to tuning, which turns the whole band into a big ole' rhythm machine, along with a rare performance of Branca's massive "three dimensional” Movement Within, and a classic work by Annie Gosfield -  Wednesday night, March 6. in a New Sounds Live concert at Merkin Hall.
