Balún at the Noguchi Museum, Fri., Sept. 6
Tickets: Free with Museum Admission Show at 6 pm.

The quartet known as Balún is based here in New York, but they’re all originally from Puerto Rico, and their music is a heady mix of contemporary electronic music and tropical island rhythms. Or, as they cheekily refer to it, “dream-bow,” meaning a blend of dream pop and the now-ubiquitous dembow beat from the Caribbean. Whatever you call it, it’s easy to get lost in the swirl of electronics, the oddly sampled voices, and the plaintive sound of the Andean pan pipes. Balún plays tonight at the Noguchi Museum in Queens.
