Balún at Littlefield, Sat., May 5, with LADAMA
Tickets: $20-25. Show at 7:30

The band called Balún grew out of the DIY scene in San Juan, Puerto Rico. But lead singer Angélica Negrón is a sought-after composer, who’s written music for the NY Philharmonic and the American Composers Orchestra, among others, so while they may have started out doing lo-fi electronica, they were never going to stop there. The band’s currently based in Brooklyn and will be releasing an album in July that is an absolute melting pot of musical styles. This single offers just one side of Balún’s sound – it’s “Anos Atras” – “years ago.”

Balún performs at Littlefield in Brooklyn tomorrow night, May 5.
