#AskTheMayor: NYC and ICE, Specialized High Schools, NYPD Trial After Garner's Death
Bill de Blasio, New York City mayor, takes cakes calls from listeners and discusses this week in NYC, including the circumstances in which the City may work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, specialized high school testing and the trial of the NYPD officer involved in Eric Garner's death.
on @BrianLehrer, @NYCMayor calls the below comments from City Council Member Menchaca "ridiculous," says city is adding crimes to list where city will work with ICE based on new state laws, including very serious crimes. https://t.co/IhuiJ4q8FG

Is de Blasio adding these because he may run for president, @BrianLehrer asks? "That's ridiculous." He says the 7 new laws include sex trafficking a child, will only apply if someone's convicted. They are "serious offenses" and "had nothing to do with anything political" https://t.co/sf0wXN1ij0

on specialized high schools, @BrianLehrer pushes & BdB comes back to the irrefutable point in the SHSAT debate: these are the only schools that use a single standardized test for sole admissions. no other top schools of any kind (college, etc) do this.
