Arturo Sandoval at The Blue Note, Dec. 4-8
Tickets: $30-45. Sets at 8 and 10:30PM.

The Cuban-American trumpeter Arturo Sandoval has had a colorful life – colorful enough that it was made into a movie, where Andy Garcia played Sandoval. Over the course of 50 years of musicmaking, he’s collaborated with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Ariana Grande, and amassed a total of ten Grammy Awards. His current project looks back at the 20th century Mexican musician Armando Manzanero, but he’s never far from his roots in Afro-Cuban jazz, like in this piece called "Sofrito." The trumpeter and bandleader Arturo Sandoval performs two sets every night, from Wednesday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Blue Note.
