Arthur Verocai at Damrosch Park
August 11. Free admission.
7PM.

The Brazilian guitarist, composer and arranger Arthur Verocai has been a part of the Brazilian popular music scene since the late 1960s.  In 1972 he released his own album of orchestral pop that drew together the sounds of bossa nova, rock, soul, and jazz.  Like so many projects that are ahead of its time, it sank without a trace.  Until it was rediscovered early in this century, and became a cult hit and a source of sampling for hip hop producers.  Now, Arthur Verocai is making his first ever tour of the States, and he’s doing it in style – with a 30 piece orchestra. He and his orchestra play a free show tonight at Damrosch Park.
