Enemy of the State? Artist Tania Bruguera's Arrest in Cuba

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 25, 2015

Art critic and curator Christian Viveros-Faune talks about the Cuban performance artist Tania Bruguera, who was arrested for disturbing the public order prior to staging a performance about free speech in Havana’s Revolution Square in December. Her case is an obstacle in the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States, and has been condemned by the U.S. State department and by many in the art world.

Why Is the Havana Biennial Afraid of Tania Bruguera and is she the Cuban Ai Wei Wei?

In 2009 Tania Bruguera staged "Tatlin's Whisper #6" in Havana.
