The Andy Statman Trio at Barbès
Nov. 6. 8PM.

Brooklyn’s Andy Statman has two musical careers. As a clarinetist, he has played Jewish klezmer music and done Coltrane-style improvisations on traditional Hassidic melodies. But he’s also a mandolinist, a veteran on the surprisingly rich New York City bluegrass scene, and his new album is simply called Bluegrass Tracks. Statman writes most of his own material but on the album, he also revisits a tune from The Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, “Stoney Lonesome.” Andy and his band play a show at Barbès in Brooklyn on Wed., Nov. 6.
