Our cultural landscape has become so atomized that it’s possible to be a major musical figure with a long career and a large following and still not be known to most people. Andrew Bird has spent more than 20 years making quirky, smart indie rock, with songs that draw on classical music, folk music, old-time jazz and more. He’s been a public radio favorite. But a lot more people will know him now from his recurring character in the TV series Fargo. Bird’s latest album, Inside Problems, includes this song, which uses a melody from Beethoven and is called “Atomized.” Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine play July 29, as part of their Outside Problems Summer Tour at the rooftop of Pier 17.
