Amy Irving starred in Yentl, Crossing Delancey, and a bunch of other movies, but perhaps her most memorable on-screen moment was as the singing voice of Jessica Rabbit (you know, the character that famously said, “I’m not bad – I’m just drawn that way” - Kathleen Turner was the speaking voice.) That was in the semi-animated film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and that’s where she sang the song “Why Don’t You Do Right.”  Originally a sultry number reminiscent of the earlier Peggy Lee recording, Amy Irving has now done a more upbeat jazz band version for her first-ever album.  It’s called Born In A Trunk, and the ten songs are all audio postcards of moments in her life and career. Amy Irving plays Monday, April 10, at City Winery.
