America-Israel Cultural Foundation. Exhibition: "From the Lands of the Bible."

Edith Porade professor of art history and archaeology at Columbia University.

Hildreth Yorkoff graduate student of Dr. Porade

Betty Schlossman - Art history teacher at Queens College.

Linda Sweet - acting director of Gallery of Israel art - at American Is cultural foundation. Sweet begins by briefly describing the American Israel Cultural Foundation and their interest in contemporary Israeli artworks.

Dr. Porade talks about the scope and nature of the exhibition and the background of the objects into the way they were exhibited, and a reproduction of the reconstruction of the temple of Solomon as a background to some figurines and idols of the time of Solomon.

The exhibition came about as a way of marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. The decision was made by the Foundation's art committee. More than 450 objects borrowed from private collectors as well as Israeli museums and museums here in the United States and Canada. They attempt to address the question of authenticity of the objects. Objects extend from the neolithic period - 8th-millennium B.C.into the Roman period.
