Noah Kahan, Kazuo Ishiguro and Bill Nighy on 'Living', DCAS Auction, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, A Pen Gift-Giving Guide
The singer songwriter and proud Vermonter Noah Kahan's latest album, Stick Season, is a tribute to the time of the year between fall and winter, what locals in his hometown call stick season. Coming off his nationwide tour of the album, Kahan joins us in studio for a Listening Party, and also performs some special acoustic versions of songs from the album.
A new film from an adapted screenplay by Kazuo Ishiguro, titled "Living," finds Bill Nighy as a 1950s civil servant who, after a fatal cancer diagnosis, endeavors to give his tedious life meaning. Nighy and Ishiguro join us to discuss the movie, which opens in theaters on December 23.
Under New York City rules, public servants cannot accept gifts from people or entities doing business with the city. But when you hold an office like Mayor, people tend to want to give you things. What happens to those items? Now, the Department of Citywide Administrative Services is auctioning them off. We learn about what is up for grabs -- and who benefits -- with Nick Benson, a DCAS official.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is back for its first full holiday season in a few years. After a truncated run due to last year’s Omicron surge, Ailey kicked off November 30 and runs through December 24. Director Robert Battle and guest choreographer Kyle Abraham join us to discuss this season of the company's performances.
