Get Lit: Mohsin Hamid and Ali Sethi, 2020's Long-term Impact on Students, COVID and Disordered Eating

All Of It with Alison Stewart | Aug 29, 2022

Get Lit with All Of It is on the radio this summer! This month, we've been reading The Last White Man by author Mohsin Hamid. The novel tells the story of a world in which white people are suddenly waking up to find that their complexion has darkened, and their appearance has changed. Mohsin Hamid joins us to discuss, and take calls from our readers!

Writer and musician Ali Sethi joins as the musical guest at our August Get Lit radio special! Sethi is one of Pakistan's most popular pop singers; his song "Pasoori" has become a hit around the world and has 300 million views and counting on Youtube. He joins us with exclusive performances.

In her new book, The Stolen Year: How Covid Changed Children’s Lives, and Where We Go Now, journalist Anya Kamenetz probes how the United States' education system responded -- inadequately, she argues -- during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact on children of a year of uncertainty, and subpar remote learning infrastructure. Plus, listeners call in to describe their experiences, and how that year has had lasting effects on their kids.

According to reports, disordered eating in teens has skyrocketed since the COVID pandemic began. Dr. Lisa Damour, clinical psychologist and author, joins to discuss this startling trend and how to help your child.
