Alice Smith has that classic soul sound, but she’s also comfortable with rock, blues and R&B. She earned a Grammy nomination for her first album back in 2007, and since then has had one of her songs covered by Prince, and has in turn covered a song by Nina Simone. But mostly, Alice Smith sings her own songs. However, this one, by Cee-Lo Green, “Fool For You,” was recently used in the TV series Gotham. Alice Smith plays a free concert uptown this evening at Marcus Garvey Park, part of SummerStage.
