WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Immigrant History Week begins today.

Events will be taking place at cultural institutions all around the city through Sunday. Mayor Bloomberg established the celebration two years ago.

It begins on April 17th because that's the date in 1907 when the most immigrants passed through Ellis Island.
