WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Mayor Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino opened an all-day summit aimed at coordinating efforts to limit illegal gun sales.

Mayors from Seattle, Dallas, Milwaukee and 12 other cities were in attendance.

In their opening remarks, Bloomberg and Menino criticized the federal government for not doing enough to stop the spread of illegal guns. Menino told the story of meeting with a sixth grade class in which nine out of ten pupils said they knew where they could get a gun.
