Juilliard to Get New Dean

The Juilliard School is getting its first new Dean in 12 years. The school's president Joseph Polisi announced that Ara Guzelimian will replace the current dean, Stephen Clapp. Guzelimian already has ideas about what he'd like to do in his new role.
How you engage in a dialogue with society as a whole. How you take your art to people rather than wait until they come to you. How you play a broader educational role in teaching the value of the arts in everyday life. All of those things.
Guzelimian, hails from Carnegie Hall where he was the Artistic Advisor and a Senior Director. He will continue his association with Carnegie through the 2006-2007 season.
