Restaurants May Display Calorie Counts

Restaurants in New York City that have been voluntarily giving out nutritional information will now have to include calorie counts too. We're mostly talking about fast food chains, here. The city's Board of Health is concerned that customers aren't getting the full picture so it wants the restaurants to post the calorie counts on the menu boards behind the registers...not just in pamphlets or on tray liners.

REPORTER: Chuck Hunt from the New York Restaurant Association says the extra burden is unnecessary.

HUNT: No good deed goes unpunished…you know, they are providing the information, now they're going to have to go to considerable expense of putting it up on their menu boards.

REPORTER: Restaurant owners says they may sue the city over the nutritional information requirement and the new transfat ban.
