City Lacks Shelter Beds for Homeless Youth

There are more than 15 thousand young people between the ages of 13 and 24 sleeping on the streets and in city shelters. Nobody knows the exact number but advocates say there definitely are not enough beds to offer them.
REPORTER: To get a better handle on the problem, City Council members say they will conduct a first-ever survey of homeless youth this spring. Council Member Lew Fidler:
FIDLER: It doesn't matter where they came from. It doesn't matter how they came to be on the street. It is our obligation as a society to make sure they're not SLEEPING on the street at night.
REPORTER: There currently are 200 beds available to the young and homeless population.
