Reports Say Hevesi Accepted Plea Deal

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

The Albany county D.A. denies any deal is in place, but several newspapers say Alan Hevesi will step down as part of a plea deal.

The D.A. has been investigating Hevesi's misuse of a state employee as a chauffeur for his ailing wife. Hevesi has repaid the state $206,000 for that service.

The state comptroller will reportedly resign and plead guilty to a felony charge that will allow him to avoid jail time.
