City Council Raises Nightlife Security Concerns

New York, NY —
New York City is facing safety concerns about its renowned nightlife, and now city officials want to go after people who make and sell fake IDs. They also want police to close clubs where serious assaults have occurred repeatedly.
The recommendations were released yesterday. Club owners and police made plans to work together on security, underage drinking and neighborhood relations. The president of the city's nightlife association says the clubs don't want to be seen as bad neighbors.
Concerns about safety have been in the news since a young woman was abducted, raped and killed last winter after a night at a SoHo bar. An unlicensed bouncer was charged in her death.
