Bell Family Begins 50 Day Vigil

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

The family of Sean Bell, the groom killed by police on his wedding day, will stand vigil outside a Queens police precinct.

His mother, Valerie Bell, began the 50 day vigil at 4:56 am yesterday to call attention to the lack of indictments in her son's case. The family will take turns covering the vigil site, at the 103rd police precinct.

Sean Bell was killed by police on November 25th, after leaving a Queens nightclub with two friends. The shooting is under investigation by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

The incident set off an uproar against the NYPD for its use of deadly force and undercover tactics.
