Congestion Plan Debate Continues

Mayor Bloomberg is confident the public will support his plan to charge drivers entering Manhattan $8, despite early criticism from some outer borough politicians.

REPORTER: Bloomberg has promised to invest more money into mass transit. And, he predicts politicians will feel the heat from constituents who understand that congestion pricing will lead to fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

BLOOMBERG: And I think the environmental groups you're going to see marshalling their resources and holding everyone's feet to the fire. You're either in favor of doing something or just sitting around and complaining and pandering.

REPORTER: Two large coalitions of environmental, labor and business groups have already started lobbying for the congestion pricing plan, which needs state approval.
