Spitzer Aides Withheld Evidence From Attorney General

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office may not have had all the information they needed to conduct their investigation into alleged misuse of the state police by Governor Spitzer's office. A spokeswoman for the Governor tells the New York Times that Spitzer's top aides kept second Blackberrys which they sometimes used to communicate about political business.

E-mail messages sent over these devices were not submitted to the Attorney General's office. Only e-mails sent from official government accounts were handed over.

On Thursday the Senate Committee on Investigations is set to hold hearings on the accusations against Spitzer's aides. Representatives from the Attorney General and Inspector general's offices are set to testify.
