More Retiring Lawmakers in NJ

Another New Jersey Republican Congressman is resigning. WNYC's Bob Hennelly has more.

The latest to exit is 4-term Congressman Mike Ferguson, who represents central Jersey's 7th District. He cited the need to spend more time with his young family. But the district along the I-78 corridor has been changing in recent years.

The Democratic challenger in 2006, Assemblywoman Linda Stender, came within a percentage point of winning the seat. Stender says she plans to run again. Earlier this month, Republican Congressman Jim Saxton, from the state's southern 3rd District, announced his retirement citing health concerns. For WNYC, I'm Bob Hennelly.
