New York, NY —
Citigroup Inc. named Vikram Pandit, the head of its investment banking business, as its new chief executive officer. Pandit will replace acting CEO, Sir Win Bischoff who replaced the companies ousted CEO and chairman Charles Prince last month.
Pandit is well known on Wall Street, having worked at Morgan Stanley for two decades until 2005. He then co-founded his own hedge fund which Citigroup bought earlier this year. Pandit's appointment as CEO came after a two-day meeting of Citigroup's board.
