Actors Rally to Save Performance Space

The struggle to save artists' studios at Carnegie Hall took a star turn today. The actor John Turturro appeared with other performers at a City Hall rally.

REPORTER: They're urging Mayor Bloomberg to intervene, and stop the eviction of long-time residents who live in apartments above the concert hall. The studios have housed artists such as Marlon Brando and Leonard Burnstein, and Turturro took acting classes there.

TURTURRO: We're trying to preserve something that is truly unique to the city and great Carnegie Hall wouldn't be here without a lot of these people. So that's why I'm here.

REPORTER: Mayor Bloomberg's aides aren't commenting. The Carneige Hall Corporation wants to use the studios for music education programs.
