Medical Examiner: Heath Ledger Died of Perscription Drug Overdose

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

The toxicology report says actor Heath Ledger was killed by an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

The medical examiner reports Heath Ledger's system was coursing with pain killers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety drugs. He died last month.

The statement from ME spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says the 28-year-old film star was killed by the combined effects of Oxycodone, Hyrocodone, Diazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam, and Doxylamine.

Most were prescription drugs, Borakove would not say weather they were in greater concentration than others. She says the cumulative effect of the medications together is what killed him.
