N.J. Officials, Once with Clinton, Now Back Obama

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Sen. Hillary Clinton had early backing from most of New Jersey's top political officials during the primaries, but last night two previously neutral superdelegates, Sen. Frank Lautenberg and U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, endorsed Barack Obama.

Morristown resident Alfred Lyle says that, as an African American he never thought he'd live to this historic moment.

LYLE: Honestly no I didn't. This country is usually run by Caucasians. A black president? I never thought that.

REPORTER: Obama previously garnered support from Senate President Dick Codey and U.S. Rep. Donald Payne.
