CBS Employee Pleads Not-Guilty in Letterman Extortion Plot

New York, NY —

A CBS News employee has pleaded not guilty in an alleged extortion plot against David Letterman. Robert Joel Halderman reportedly delivered materials to the TV host outside his home and threatened to disclose private information if he didn't receive $2 million. Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau declined to provide details about the materials Halderman allegedly had.

Last night, Letterman admitted on his show that he had had affairs with women on his staff.

Halderman could spend between 5 and 15 years in prison if convicted of one count of attempted grand larceny.
