Mayoral Candidates Eye Edge in Turnout

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

With a week to go before the election, the city's mayoral candidates are urging New Yorkers to get out and vote.

The Bloomberg campaign has phone numbers for hundreds-of-thousands of city residents. Each will be getting an automated call that will urge them to go to the polls Tuesday. It's one of the subjects on which Bloomberg and his Democratic opponent Bill Thompson agree.

THOMPSON: This is all about turnout. It's about who comes out and votes on November 3rd that's what we're focused on and that's the most important thing that's the biggest poll of all.

REPORTER: Thompson picked up an endorsement yesterday from Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and a group that represents 180,000 public housing residents.
