Booker Wins Second Mayoral Term in Newark

Cory Booker has won a second term as mayor of Newark, handily defeating three challengers with 59 percent of the vote. Former Essex County Prosecutor Cliff Minor ran a distant second.
With 98 percent of precincts reporting, the city's Web site has Booker with more than 21,000 votes compared to about 12,500 for Minor.
However, Booker's margin was slimmer than in 2006, and at least one of his City Council candidates was defeated. He won election his first term with 72 percent of the vote, and his entire slate of nine council candidates was elected.
Booker told a cheering crowd at the Robert Treat Hotel last night that his administration has delivered positive change, but there's much more work to be done.
