Carnegie Hall has announced the appointment of a new executive and artistic director. The London Symphony Orchestra’s Clive Gillinson will take the helm at Carnegie starting next summer, following the end of the orchestra’s 100th anniversary season. Gillinson has spent 34 years with the LSO, first as a cellist and then as its managing director—he says he think this is the only job that could have “enticed him away.” The LSO has played regularly in New York over the last several years. Gillison’s innovative educational programs and recording projects have earned him a reputation as a highly-respected international figure. He says he’s eager to build on the forward-thinking legacy of Robert Harth, Carnegie’s previous director who died unexpectedly last January. Links and resources:
