The Vancouver-based rock quartet Hot Hot Heat close-out a month-long residency at Public Assembly previewing songs from their upcoming release Future Breeds (June 8, Dangerbird Records). While the band’s sonically adventurous fifth album is filled with the melodically-infectious bash and pop and chunky grooves heard on previous albums, there’s no way to know what will come next: a sudden baby's wail, a missile launch (as heard here on “21@12"), or a bleating sax point to a band in full control of its songcraft.
