Music of a mesmerizing, mysterious, and ethereal character highlights this installment of New Sounds. Terry Riley's Embroidery, for voice and 2 synthesizers conveys an Eastern quality through highly ornamented, Indian-style vocals. Brian Eno's The Roil is full of pulsating rythms and ambient drones; Angelo Badalamenti's music from the Twin Peaks Soundtrack sets a typically David Lynch-like aura of mystery; while Meredith Monk's "Memory Song" features a unique, chant-like quality.
