New Sounds | May 24, 2010
Host John Schaefer features Dick Connette and Sonya Cohen of the band Last Forever, whose most recent albums have paid homage to classic American Folk music. Not only are these ambitious historical documents, but they also stand as beautiful collections of songs. Connette's understated arrangements borrow from a variety of styles, are sung by Sonya Cohen (niece of Pete Seeger), and feature a variety of instruments, including hammer dulcimer, spinet, banjo, a few strings, and the occasional horn.
