Nomi

Spinning on Air | May 18, 2010
Nomi is a young New York City musician who is finding her way from songwriting based in hip-hop style, to a new style that's more personal and harder to categorize. Trading heavy beats and samples for an ensemble of acoustic guitar, cello and theremin, Nomi has created a subtly textured context for her passionate vocals. Nomi's music is championed--and perhaps now inspired by--Antony, of Antony and the Johnsons. Host David Garland welcomes Nomi and her unusual group to WNYC for a conversation and an in-studio session of Nomi's new music.
