Somewhere Beyond the Sea
The Leonard Lopate Show | May 10, 2010
Story Musgrave, one of NASA’s most seasoned astronauts, looks back at his impressive career with his biographer, Anne Lenehan. Mr. Musgrave has been on six space missions, and is the only astronaut in history to have flown on all five NASA Space Shuttles. Then, we’ll talk to lyricist Jack Lawrence. He wrote the words to some of the most legendary love songs of the century: Sinatra’s "All Or Nothing At All," the Inkspots' "If I Didn’t Care," and Bobby Darrin's "Beyond the Sea," to name a few. His new memoir, They All Sang My Songs, charts his life and work, and tells us what it was like collaborating with some of America’s most famous singers. And director Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters), explores the life of the pioneering 1950s sexologist Alfred Kinsey in his latest film: Kinsey. Finally, we dive into the workings of New York City's water system in this week’s Please Explain feature.
