Alexander Glazunov was born this day in 1865; he began to study with Rimsky-Korsakov at the tender age of fourteen. Korsakov said that his musical development “progressed not by the day, but literally by the hour.” His ballet “The Season” is performed with élan by the Philharmonia Orchestra under Evgeny Svetlanov.
