#4215: From New Sounds Live Silent Films 2019, Part II

New Sounds | Mar 19, 2019

From the New Sounds Live concert series, recorded at Brookfield Place, listen to more music for the silent films, The Kid and Nosferatu from the 2019 season.

Guitarist Marc Ribot has played rock with Elvis Costello, downtown jazz with John Zorn, and the experimental growly folk-pop-rock of Tom Waits. He’s played Haitian classical guitar music, and lately written an album of agitated protest songs, and now, for this New Sounds Live silent film series, a live score for Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid. Listen to Marc Ribot and his acoustic guitar from this past January 2019.

Then, hear new music for the classic silent vampire film, Nosferatu. The Irish sibling composers Irene and Linda Buckley have written a new electroacoustic score – with found sounds from the outdoors, wolves, and the voices of both Buckleys- to accompany a beautifully-restored newly available version of F.W. Murnau's influential horror film. Listen to more of the Buckleys' music for the film.
